Done with Achievements and Bravely Second
I think I'm going to avoid going after achievements anymore. It's making me into a bit of a jerk especially when it comes to co-op play. I'm forgetting what it's all about, and that's having fun. It's going to be an effort for me to not think about them or steer my playing in that direction, but I think it's necessary if I want to have friends to play with. The Borderlands series especially brings this to the fore, because I get really frustrated going for achievements in this game. It's just not a healthy way to play. It's sort of obsessive. It's like I'm becoming one of the characters in the game - one who has a wildly out of control neurosis.
Better news is that I've fallen for Bravely Second on 3DS. I'm playing the demo and am totally loving it. The graphics are wonderful and I love the 3D effect in the game. It even has an AR moment at the beginning that is really cool. I love the battle system too. The world "default" is really more like "defense". While "defaulting" ("in a defensive pose") you can store up moves so that when you activate "brave", you can execute multiple moves at once. It's an interesting way to work in some of what you get in a active battle system, ie. real time elements. I hope to get the full game sometime. Maybe not right away unless I trade in all my Etrian Odyssey games. I'll have to think that one over. I'm reluctant to give over my precious E.O. games.
Au revoir mes amis!
