Mirror's Edge is a great game. It's not that long either, but it can be pretty frustrating. When I finally got my platinum I was jumping up and down and cussing out my tv lol. That last speed run was insane! I am planning on starting Dark Souls soon. So I'll be right there with ya lol. How hard can it be compared to most NES games?
A General Update Laced with Frustration

Yeah, it's about Demon's Souls.
Everyone tells you Demon's Souls is hard and ruthless and it'll kill you, but that doesn't mitigate the frustration of spending several hours slogging through it with nothing to show for it at the end. I was playing the second part of the first area last night, where the dragon scorches those long stretches of castle wall you have to run across. It's not dying part of the way through and having to start from the beginning that frustrates me. It's if I die a second time before getting to my first bloodstain. Then all those souls are just gone. Poof. Too bad. After like two hours of playing I decided to get my souls back (hopefully) and then go back to the Archstone and return to the Nexus. Maybe I could upgrade my equipment or something (not sure how it all works yet) and do better the next time. But there was no way back! The inside passage of the wall returns to the beginning but is blocked by a big gate I couldn't open and the topside is patrolled by that stupid dragon. I didn't want to risk running into the dragon's fire because then I'd lose those souls for sure, so I pressed on with the faint hope of surviving. And I made it to the boss! That overly huge suit of armor. I took out the archers and then slowly started attacking his feet. But despite being very cautious, he got the best of me. Back to the beginning. And guess what...I died on the way back to him. Poof. All those souls gone. I quit the game and went to bed.
Notice the disparity in size
I do want to return to it but not right now. I mean, I woke up still frustrated and I'm getting mad just writing about it. So I'm hoping there will be an update to Backloggers Anonymous soon and I'll have an excuse to play something else. Last I time I checked Mirror's Edge was leading the poll of what game to play and that'd be fine with me.It's been sitting on my shelf for probably two years now lol.
CURSE YOU, DEMON'S SOULS!!!
There, I think that's out my system now. *ahem* Anyway, I've also been playing the remake of Mega Man included with Powered Up and I finally beat Ice Man yesterday after much frustration with his level. Seriously, that part with the floating platforms and flying attack penguins over the bottomless pit is just cruel. But now it's onto the Yellow Devil and I'm kind of worried about that. We'll see. But I also started playing LocoRoco 2 again after nearly a year and a half since I started it and it definitely helps fight back the frustration. It's just so trippy and happy and colorful. AND I've made a lot of progress in Kid Icarus: Uprising in the last week. My hands used to cramp pretty bad when playing that on a normal 3DS, which is one of the reasons I took a break from it in the first place, but it's so much easier to play on my XL. So hopefully I'll finish it before the month runs out. Then it will have taken only a year to get through lol.
Not looking forward to seeing this guy again
I've been playing quite a few iOS games lately but I'll save that for another blog (I've been meaning to write that blog for a while now). But I will mention that Raiden Legacy, a compilation of four classic Raiden shmups that supposedly has surprisingly good control options, and The Last Express, the overlooked adventure game by Jordan Mechner (creator of Prince of Persia), both dropped from $5 each to $2. I grabbed them both with some App Store credit I had left and if you like those sort of games I'd suggest you get them quick because they'll probably go back up again sometime.
Anyway, thanks for indulging my need vent and check back Wednesday for another OCR Spotlight!
