I got a PS3 in 2007 for the game Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom. This was an action RPG I thought would be fun playing co-op with my friend. He also got a PS3, and we played it a lot. I also remember us playing a lot of the downloadable game Pain. This was like Angry Birds but with people. It was funny. We enjoyed the PS3 for several years before our gaming became only on Xbox.
The PS3 (I bought the 40GB model) had some neat features like the Home app that tried to create a virtual community space. I watched a NASA launch there once, but I didn’t really get deeply into it. The EyeToy was interesting too, and I experimented with it on a few occasions but didn’t really use it much. The best things were the games I couldn’t play on other systems, and there were some essential ones that made me happy to have the system.
Being as there are so many, I’ll stick to the new game series I discovered such as: Demon’s Souls, inFamous, Killzone, Ni No Kuni, Pixeljunk Monsters, Resistance, Uncharted, Untold Legends, and Valkyria Chronicles.
The new developers I was now following thanks to owning a PS3 were: From Software (Demon’s Souls),Vanillaware (Dragon’s Crown, Odin’s Sphere), Free Radical (Haze), Guerilla Games (Killzone 2-3), Q-Games (Pixlejunk Monsters), Insomniac (Resistance 1-3), and Naughty Dog (Uncharted 1-3).
I’ve had several PS3 models over the years. I had a Slim PS3 and now I have the 40GB “fat” PS3 again. I’d love to get a Super Slim though.
TV Time! Creepy baby commercial.

Of the 7th generation, I'll say this:
The 360 started strong (online and a few JRPG catches) and had a weak ending with their emphasis on Kinect and non-gaming applications..
The PS3 started weak with a high price tage and no games, and ended very strongly (JRPGs made their comeback in the later years of the PS3, and The Last of Us has blown up into a media franchise).
The Wii started strong, had a weak middle (Wii Music? Really?) and had a strong lineup in their last years (Skyward Sword and the Operation Rainfall RPGs), though sales of the Wii slowed pretty rapidly after 2010.

I can't argue with any of that. I think you nailed it.

Never did a 180 so hard on a console before. Hated this thing at launch, especially with how many great games were coming out on the 360 and Wii compared to it. But once it got the Slim I picked it up and was impressed with its late gen games and how multiplats were finally competent on it. My main console from 2011-2013.

I love that slim and super slim models. I'll replace my fat PS3 for one of those eventually.

The only reason why I got a PS3 was because when we got a new TV for the living room, the PS3 was the cheapest option for a Blu-Ray player! The thing always ran slower than the 360 and they had that security breach on it that made me decide to never have my credit card on file on any console (I just use point gift cards). So yeah, the PS3 is my least favorite of the Sony home consoles.

I rely on it for a DVD/BlueRay player at the moment. It seems sturdier than the 360 for that purpose. I don't think I ever put a card on my account either for PS3.

Bought it for MGS4 initially. Then it became the Demon's Souls Machine. Dragon's Crown was another I put a lot of time in. Dragon's Dogma, RE5, Vanquish were some others that stood out

Even though I can't get anywhere in Demon's Souls, I consider my PS3 to be the Demon's Souls machine and wish there was a DS skin for or DS special edition PS3. Even the Dark Souls games don't match the creepy vibe of Demon's Souls. Bloodborne is closer to it.
