Never had an Xbox One. Too few games on it I wanted to play, and even then, a bunch of those games eventually made it to Switch!
Machine Memories: Xbox One

I think it must’ve been that same 2014 black Friday that I also picked up a Xbox One. I was really excited by Wolfenstein: New Order that had come out in May that year. There was a Xbox 360 version, but I really wanted to see it with the best graphics available. My friend got a Xbox One soon after and we both played this game a lot.
I never had the hardware problems I did with the Xbox 360. The deck I had lasted until I traded up for the Xbox Series S just a few years ago. The system was still a little square and uninteresting to look at, and a little bit large, but I got so much game time with the system, my friend also.
What really took off with the system was the online aspect. There were lots more digital games available, the new Game Pass service, and plenty of video and music options. It was a lot more fun interacting online. I played so many games on the system. What stands out to me though are all the smaller, lesser known, or indie titles I discovered. Games like: Banner Saga Trilogy, Bomber Crew, Carrion, Darkest Dungeon, Dead Cells, Farm Together, Headlanders, Journey to the Savage Planet, Rail Empire, Slime Rancher, Void Bastards, and Wargroove. And I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting right now.
Today I don’t feel I need a Xbox One particularly. The Xbox Series S can play all the Xbox One games digitally. They never made any special versions of the Xbox One that I can think of either. But one day, I might think of a good reason to own one again.
TV Time! Remember this disasterous lauch presentation. TV, Sports, TV, Sports, TV. They really wanted it to be a multimedia device and not a game system. Well, the fans spoke and they switched gears and did everything I ever wanted with backwards compatibility, remasters and Games, Games, Games.
