November Game List

It's November and another shift to a new range of years I want to focus on in gaming. This month is 2019-2021. Nothing special about that, just 3 years in the history of gaming. I guess you could say the transition to our current consoles: Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in 2020 (Switch out since 2017).

In looking through the games out in these years, I remember it well. I got a Xbox Series S and traded my Xbox One. I also got a Switch in that trade which included trading my PS4 (pandemic trade-in values were excellent). I, of course, reaquired a PS4, and I'm looking at a Xbox One again. I committed to the digital only universe with the XSS purchase for this current gen. I have not given up on physical for previous generations though.

Here's my list of 2019 games. These I either bought day-one back then and would revisit, or ones I have subsequently gained an interest in.

2/1 - Wargroove: Just like Advance Wars, this indie game got my attention right away. I got it digitally on Xbox but then found a physical copy for PS4 later (yay physical!). I haven't turned all-digital yet.

2/5 - Etrian Odyssey Nexus: 3DS games were still coming out in 2019! I believe I had this day-one but since traded it when I traded my 3DS around this time. I have since gotten a new 3DS and want this game back, but I haven't seen it in the wild as of yet. Will I ever?

2/15 - Crackdown 3: I've always been a fan of this series. My buddy and I played all of them co-op including this one. I've done just about everything in this game, so I don't know if I have any reason to revisit it but maybe.

3/2 - Swords & Soldiers 2: I played the first one on 3DS I believe and liked it. It's a 2D RTS with fun cartoon style graphics. I never got to the sequel from 2015. It came to Switch in 2019. I need to get to it.

4/11 - Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain: EDF has, since EDF 4.1, become a PS exclusive and sometimes on Switch. Too bad for Xbox. I can't wait to play this when I get a chance, and it may be this month.

4/13 - Konami Arcade Classics: I had bought this day one on Xbox for Twin-Bee, my favorite cute-em-up, but it has lots of other shmups too.

5/14 - Rage 2: I liked both Rage games but I don't think I finished either of them. Maybe time to fix that. Both made with the IDTech engine too!

6/11 - Collection of Mana: I got this used recently for Switch. I tried one of the included games Trials of Mana on Xbox Game Pass and liked it a lot. I'll play it via physical copy on Switch next.

7/26 - Wolfenstein: Youngblood: An odd entry in the series but still a great shooter. I don't think I ever finished it either.

9/13 - Borderlands 3: I have nightmares about the annoying villains in this game after putting a hundred hours or more into it back then, but I'd still love to revisit it.

10/31 - Luigi's Mansion 3: Why do Switch (or Nintendo) games always keep their value even used? I just can't find a reasonably priced copy of this yet. I can rent it from my library though.

11/14 - Terminator Resistance: This got a remastered version recently (last year?) and it looks like a fun run-and-gun shooter. I think I could get it on a sale probably this month.

And those are the games I'm looking at first this month. That is, after I've finished with Mass Effect Andromeda which pulled me in hard last week.

Anything catch your eye?

I didn't know there was a Konami Arcade Classics on Xbox.  Is it this one?  I almost forgot about that one.  The Konami arcade collection I played the most was on PSOne.

I think Secret of Mana is better than Trials of Mana.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is so full of personality.  I think a Luigi's Mansion movie would be better than a Mario movie.

That's the one. It comes up on Xbox as Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection, which is weird. Having Konami in the title is a selling point for me.

I'm playing the remake of Trials which I imagine is very different from the original.
