Romancing Andromeda

I've played 55 hours now in Mass Effect: Andromeda. The missions seem endless but I think I'm coming towards the end of them. I think I aught to tackle the main story again soon, but I'm having fun hearing all the side stories and interacting with the characters, sometimes to the point of romance.

I've largely not participated in the romances in the Mass Effect series until now. I found myself in a relationship with Ashley I didn't want in ME1 and didn't hook up with anyone in ME2 or ME3 (perhaps I was tramatized? haha). In Andromeda, I'm paying a little more attention to the relationships. I lusted after Peebee but she was rather distant for a long while until I finished her missions. On the way to the consumating zero-g trist with her, I had numerous relationships:

Suvi: I almost fell into it with my navigator Suvi (she and I just had tea together and discussed higher powers); Vetra (she was my first love but it never went anywhere - I wondered how a Turian and a Human would be able to "relate" given their boney shell and my squishy human self);

Avela: a Turian museum curator (she was too busy with her work to mess around though);

Gil: my engineer Gil (he took me to see his girlfriend who was more like a buddy to him - as if he took me to meet his mother),

Reyes: a rogue scoundrel on Kadara whose voice actor sounded remarkably like Silvando from Dragon Quest XI minus the over-the-top flamboyance (I avoided the kiss moment however);

Jaal: and I turned down a come-on from my Angaran teammate Jaal who actually took me to meet one of his mothers.

It seems that as soon as you finish the missions related to a teammate they make a move on you. Also anyone that you talk to more than a few times seems to want to hook up with the famous patherfinder Ryder (I played as Scott). It's a frisky galaxy.

I don't really really get into games with that kind of relationship/dating mechanic.  I'm horrible enough at that as it is in real life  But your story reminds me of some of the things I experienced in the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Rune Factory games.

In one of the Rune Factory games, Farmer Man Cary tried to woo a female knight because she was strong and tough and we could fight monsters together.

In one of the DS/3DS (can't remember) Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games, Farmer Man Cay took a liking to the female blacksmith.  She was a little asian lady though and didn't seem to fill the blacksmith type, but Farmer Man Cary didn't care.  I THINK her name was Iroha in the game.

My favorite was from another Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons game on the DS/3DS.  She was a pretty and flirty writer named Iris, and Farmer Man Cary was smitten!

And those are all the ones I remember.

No waifu for me. I almost never play games with relationship mechanics. Even with ones that do have that, like Mass Effect, I mostly ignore them until they intrude into my gameplay like in Andromeda. Then I just go with it and see what happens. Oh, and Andromeda goes pretty far I found out.

Waifu...isn't that what you hook your internet up to? :)
