 With Street Fighter V's “launch” still freshly in the public eye, its easy to forget that another big fighting game release is coming out next Tuesday, Mortal Kombat XL. The expansion to the very successful Tenth canonical outing of MK looks to be just as big and bloody as ever with some new surprises...provided your playing on the right platforms.

Capcom's efforts in 3D arcade gaming towards the end of the 90's were interesting but often looked over history. When Capcom started making 3D fighters on there own, Street Fighter EX doesn't count, things were rocky. However by the end of the 90's, Capcom started getting their stride down and expirementing. One of there more interesting experiments with 3D fighting that yielded a result was Power Stone, which turns 16 today in Japan. Power Stone best represents Capcom's experiments 3D and going beyond a game that just felt like another spin on Street Fighter.

 Vampire Savior, Darkstalkers 3, is slowly becoming one of my favorite fighting games. Having done a retrospective over the whole Darkstalkers series made me realize how amazing the series was especially with Vampire Savior. Of course, falling in love with Vampire Savior leads to the enviable problem everyone who loves the game and Darkstalkers series: the soul crushing longing for a fourth one. Today there are quite a few games that kind of come close to a Vampire 4: Skullgirls, Killer Instinct 2013, and even Street Fighter V. However, if you want a game that comes really close to a Vampire 4 that actually came out around Vampire Savior, your best bet is a little known gem known as Asura Buster.

Before we get started today, I wanted to spotlight a really great article by Playboy Gaming (Yes, THAT Playboy) interviewing competitive Street Fighter player Ricky Ortiz.
