We’ve let the dust settle and even waited long enough for some of the controversial policies to get reversed since E3 wrapped up, but we’ve got plenty of opinions about this year’s show. Each of us came into it with slightly different expectations and varying levels of optimism and negativity. Some of us were pleasantly surprised and others were given the huge serving of “meh” we anticipated. It looks like the overwhelming internet consensus has won the battle with Microsoft’s controversial policies for its Xbox One. Just a couple of weeks after releasing somewhat vague details about the upcoming console’s used game, game sharing, and connectivity restrictions, Microsoft has essentially negated every last bit of its planned policies. Is this a big win for gamers and their hobby, a speed bump on the road to the inevitable, or a big step backward from a glorious future of digital game sharing?

It’s safe to say that Sony delivered an impressive showing at their E3 press conference and gained a ton of good will with gamers looking to upgrade to next generation consoles. While it’s far too early to declare the PS4 the winner of the next console war (the systems are five months away, after all), many people in the gaming community have latched on to the system since it still offers gamers the freedom to trade, sell, and buy used games. It would be foolish to count Microsoft out at this point, however, and even if many elements of the Xbox One are less than attractive, people should understand that it’s a glimpse into the future.

While we don’t have news of an integration plan, or an official announcement from Microsoft, it seems that IE’s appearance on your 360 dashboard is imminent.

Peter Molyneux shocked the gaming world last week when he resigned from his posts at Lionhead and Microsoft’s European gaming arm. It was only logical that Lionhead Studios' co-founder would take up Molyneux’s position there, but Microsoft went another route entirely.

Yet as we creep into 2012 these rumblings have only gotten louder, ultimately resulting in the first concrete piece of news concerning the next generation and Microsoft’s eventual successor to the 360.
A blog from Major Nelson announced the Microsoft console's Black Friday success.
Hot on the heels of Nintendo's Black Friday sales bulletin, Major Nelson released the news of an astounding performance by the Xbox 360. Nelson reports that over 960,000 Xbox 360 consoles were sold during Thanksgiving week, with over 800,000 of those 360s being sold on Black Friday, itself.
