TouchMaster 3 Hands On Preview

Reach out and touch someone...

TouchMaster 3 is the (obvious) third installment of the (obvious) TouchMaster handheld series. Having recently played this game at a Warner Bros. event, I'm now in tune to what TouchMaster 3 plans to bring to the handheld table. There are 20 different games spanning 5 categories: puzzle, action, card, strategy, and word challenges. Games include titles like Bumperball, Slime Assault, and Wild Words. All games have a brief tutorial beforehand to let you know what you're in for and how to do it.

Boasting unlimited replay, the game has Badges, Trophies, and Wizard Points. At the end of each game, the player is awarded Badges based on how well (or not so well) they performed. After playing a word game where the objective was to slide word tiles around a grid with the stylus until you spelled out as many words from a list as you could (and as many times as you could for each word), I was awarded 4 out of 5 badges. Most of the time badges are awarded, players aren't consciously aware that they are working towards them, as I wasn't when I got my 5 badges. Badges aside, the game was challenging while still remaining fun and had limitless possibilities: I could have arranged any number of words in any number of ways, giving it a high replay value for at least some of the games.

There are 500 Wizard Points in TouchMaster 3, and on collecting all of them, the player is crowned Grand TouchMaster. Unfortunately, I did not get that far in the game during my demo.

Multiplayer is possible through 2 person multiplayer as well as WiFi download play.

From what I saw, this game fits into those categories of games that work for ages 1-100 since there's practically something for everyone.
