Root Beer Tapper remake? For serious?

Game Party 3, formerly a Midway property, is a mini-game collection with 19 different games that have 47 different game variations. Eleven of those games return from past games, including Ping Cup (read: Beer Pong), Shuffleboard, Beanbags (read: Cornhole), and Lawn Darts, The eight new games include Bumper Pool, Smack-a-Troll, Bocce Ball, and a remake of Root Beer Tapper that appears to be a first-person Wii twist on the arcade classic.

There's an in-depth character creation mode that allows you to customize your character and keep track of your progress. There's also a tournament mode with support for up to 16 players.

At an event last week, I got to try out Darts and Racquetball. Darts, which I've played before on Wii in WarioWare: Smooth Moves and Deca Sports 2, was the best Wii version of the sport I've played. You hold the Wii Remote like a paper airplane and gently flick your wrist. It's similar to Smooth Moves' version, but it relies more on how hard you flick.

Racquetball isn't a sport I would have thought of when I first played the Wii, but I was quite impressed by how it worked. It controls like Tennis is Wii Sports, but the rules of the game are quite different. Sadly, there was no confirmation as to whether or not you could play cut-throat, a fun rule variation that I used to play with my dad and my sister.

Game Party 3 is going to be $29.99 when it hits stores October 6.
